UK singer songwriter Charlotte Mabon has announced the release of her stunning debut single, ‘Across The Veil’. The single is the first from Charlotte’s upcoming debut EP Of Grief And Gratitude, and is out on 17th September 2021.
Featuring intricate guitar, sweeping vocal harmonies and guest spot from shakuhachi player and label-mate Adrian Freedman, the gorgeous, bittersweet instrumentation is matched by powerful and personal lyrics about a darker issue:
“'Across the veil' is a song written to light the way of a dear brother, much loved in our community, who tragically took his life after using Xanax recreationally in 2018, a victim of suicidal ideation, one of the drugs known side effects” explains Charlotte. “'This song came through in the weeks and months after his passing as the many layers and forms of grief were exposed within and around me. It's a song that speaks of the broken hearts and love, not lost but forever transformed. Above all, it heeds the call to rise above the mind's desperate struggle to understand and to simply honour the way of this beautiful young man we were so blessed to know.”

‘Across The Veil’ is the first single on a new 3-track EP which poetically traces the arc of grief and transcendence, introducing a truly exciting newcomer to the worlds of folk and new age music.
