Bastiaan Kamãvena - Ruwê Txana Saite out now!

My journey towards this album has been a profoundly transformative and inspirational one. Books could be written about all the adventures, challenges, lessons and magic I experienced. My search for healing and growth brought me to the Brazilian Amazon 10 years ago. And as I often say; everything happens in the right moment, this was the right moment to share a small selection of the songs I developed through my study with the Yawanawá people.

My teacher Matsini Yawanawá, spiritual leader of the Yawanawá people and chief of the village Mutum, blessed this album with the recording of a Ruawaki (Prayer). Deep gratitude to him and his wonderful family, for all the support, inspiration, healing and teachings coming from their profound and vibrant culture and tradition. Music is very important for them, as it is for me, and the alchemy we shared and develop on the way, is audible on this album. The explosive expansion that has been happening within Medicine Music this last decade has been special to witness. And it's an honor to be able to be part of this movement. With a lot of respect, joy and humbleness I share with you: Ruwê Txana Saite.

The name was given by Matsini Yawanawá and this is his translation of its meaning:

"He is a man who is not from the Yawanawá people but he connected with the culture and also received the gift of a bird that sings, that carries his message. Hearing others sing, he absorbs this good energy and passes it on to himself, and through this he also spreads it to others, so that he encourages and inspires people. So it is a special gift. Of a bird that is capturing the sounds and music of other birds, and with respect also taking this to other places. So this Txana is a wise bird, who is carrying and transmitting as well.”
